Dr. Mark C. Trexler

Dr. Mark C. Trexler, a pioneer in understanding and managing climate risks, has more than 35 years of climate experience. Mark joined the World Resources Institute in Washington, DC, in 1988, where he worked on the first carbon offset project, the CARE Agroforestry Project in Guatemala, and carried out some of the first studies on nature-based climate solutions. Mark founded Trexler Climate + Energy Services (TC+ES) in 1991, advising clients around the world on climate change risk and risk management. When TC+ES was acquired by EcoSecurities’ in 2007, Mark ran its Global Consulting Services Group, and later became Director of Climate Risk for the global risk management firm of Det Norske Veritas (DNV) in 2009. He is widely published on carbon market and business risk management topics, and co-authored the first climate risk textbook for the London School of Economics in 2012. Mark has served in multiple roles with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), has taught at George Washington University, and holds advanced degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. He has been intrigued for decades by the potential of knowledge management tools to help us more successfully tackle today's wicked societal problems.

Laura H. Kosloff, JD

Laura H. Kosloff, an environmental attorney, started her career as Associate Editor of the Environmental Law Reporter in Washington, DC, and as an environmental litigator for the U.S. Department of Justice. In 1991 she joined Trexler Climate + Energy Services as General Counsel, and continued in that role with EcoSecurities as Associated General Counsel. She has worked extensively on the design of greenhouse gas mitigation and offset policies, and participated in carbon offset negotiations and due diligence. Ms. Kosloff holds a J.D. degree from the University of California at Davis.
